Living in Sunnyside, Surrey

Protected urban forest, top-ranked IB secondary school, and South Surrey's quieter side

A neighbourhood guide by AG. Song, REALTOR®

About Sunnyside

Sunnyside is anchored by one of the Lower Mainland's most remarkable natural features — the Sunnyside Acres Urban Forest, a 140-hectare protected tract of second-growth forest that is the only remaining sizable natural forest in the Lower Mainland. Ten trails wind through the forest, including the universal-access Wally Ross trail, open dawn to dusk.

The neighbourhood sits on the sunnier south-facing slope of the Semiahmoo Peninsula, giving it the mild microclimate that earned its name. Sunnyside Elementary offers both neighbourhood and Montessori programs. For secondary, students attend Semiahmoo Secondary — an IB World School since 1981, consistently ranked in BC's top 30. Peninsula Village on 24th Avenue provides local shopping, and Crescent Beach and Ocean Park are just to the west for beach access. Homes range from older character properties to newer estates.
